I couldn’t find a group for the Origin, so I thought it was about time we had one on Astrobin. I’ve had my Origin for about a year now, and while I have several other smart telescopes, most of my best images are taken with my Origin.

Hopefully we’ll be able to share images and tips on how to get better images with it.

When you join, it would be nice if you shared a bit about yourself and your experience with the Origin.

I am currently the Observing and Outreach Coordinator with the Oklahoma City Astronomy Club. Most of my imaging is from my backyard, from the club’s Cheddar Ranch Observatory west of OKC, or from the Okie-Tex Star Party, which our club sponsors every fall. We hold that near Kenton, OK, just south of Black Mesa, the highest point in Oklahoma. Very dark skies. Bortle 1.

I'll be headed to the star party in a couple of weeks, and hope to post some great images from there!

I just ordered the new camera for the Origin, the 678C. Should get it next week, but probably won’t get it installed until the week after. I’m hoping the improvements will be significant!

Has anyone else installed the new camera yet? What do you think?

I posted about half of the images I got at OTSP 2025 about 2 weeks ago. Had to stop, and haven’t gotten around to posting the rest. I’ll try to get the rest up this evening or tomorrow.

I concentrated on getting images of Nebulas at the star party, as I get pretty good images of the more black and white DSOs, galaxies and clusters, even in more light polluted areas.

I ran my Origin for nebula images, and my eVscope2 for science observations for SETI. Between those two scopes, I kept busy.

Hi Mitche, I bought my Origin at the beginning of this year, so about 10 months for me. I have the Evolution wedge and Starsense Autoguider as well. This is my first step into astrophotography and I’m loving it. My journey with Origin continues to evolve, as I’m now capturing raw files and processing in Pixinsight. So much to learn.

I live in Wentzville, Missouri, about 45 miles west of St. Louis. Skies here are about Bortle 4-5, but I can drive to Bortle 2 skies in about an hour. I am mostly setup in the backyard as well.

I also bought a Dwarf 3 a few months ago, which is also fun. That things just works, every time. Amazing what it captures, especially if you spend a few nights on a target.

Thank you for starting this group. I am new to Astrobin and really like this platform.

Are you processing Origin raw images yourself? I would be curious to understand your workflow.
