Hello all,

Has anyone repurposed a Keter shed into a mini obs? There are a few models that seem to be just about big enough for a compact setup (I am more interested in the smaller storage containers vs the full-sized sheds as this will sit on a balcony).

They are also quite reasonably priced, and weatherproof.

I’m wondering how hard it would be to hack the roof to make it automatic..

I did find this - which is basically 2 storage sheds stacked on top of each other:

And Astrobloke modified a much bigger shed:

Hello,

I use this type of garden shed for my observatory.

I designed it so that I don't need to use concrete columns and can remove the roof manually (there isn't enough space in the garden).

It works very well: since 2023, I've finally been able to take images in peace, and I sometimes add small improvements.

Here are more details on my website:

Telescope Shelter Mini-Observatory Build
Could not find anything suitable as a small observatory, or better said a shelter for my SCT so I decided to build one. It is basically a mini-shed, and since it will only be used for AP, there is no need for a person to have room inside. It is just ...
