Hey everyone,

Finally paid for a membership because why not. I'm mostly on the reddit sub discord, but I figure why not actually use the forums here as well. I'm definitely not an expert, but I would love to contribute in whatever ways I can, and learn from you wonderful people. 

I'm in Southern California. I usually image from my backyard, but at some point if I ever get time I would love to image from darker skies. The thought of lugging around an Orion Atlas though is kind of dreadful.

Welcome and despair not, you can do a lot from the backyard, even under heavy light pollution.

For sure. There are some things that don't seem worth putting much time into though, mostly faint broadband stuff like IFN. Plenty of targets to image though despite that.

Well, yes, you do have to pick your battles but a lot is technique too. It’s not IFN but there’s a lot going on in the image below taken in the IR under B-8:
