hey everyone

my current scope is a 60mm sharpstar edphii refractor, its nice however id like to get into reflectors! im using a heq5 pro and am thinking a 130pds would suit it well. if anybody could recommend me accessories and a coma corrector that would be great. the ts optics correctors seem great, was thinking the tsgpu would be the way to go however i have no clue or experience with reflectors.

oh is anybody running a focus cube v2 on there 130pds? does the standard bracket fit?

thanks in advance~

Hi Jordan,

from my POV you don't need the GPU on the 130PDS (but I would recommend it for faster scopes). The MPCC works well on f5. I have both and have tested it. You may look on some images made with this combination in my gallery.
I would strongly recommend to put some velour in the tube and install an aperture ring.
On my 130 is an Arduino, so I can't tell anything to the focus cube.

Have fun with it! It's a nice little fellow!

I use the Skywatcher 2" coma corrector on my 200PDS and it works very well (nice round stars across the entire image).  It was a huge improvement over the stock 200PDS.

I recently acquired a 150pds and made this list of mods - virtually all would apply to the 130pds too. Key one for me is an aperture mask for mirror to improve stars.

skywatcher coma corrector is excellent- have had great results on 150pds, 200pds and 250pds with it.

I have similar setup like yours.
I have been using SW 130PDS for more than 2 years now & it is very good short tube Newtonian for medium size targets like open clusters, nebulae etc.
Not much suitable for deep field galaxies or planetary nebulae for that I use GSO 6 inch F9 RC.

I also have Sharpstar 60ED APO refractor which I like the most for it's image quality.
I have ZWO ASI 1600MM-PRO camera with LRGB and Narrowband filters for above telescopes setup.

My recommendation is to get 130PDS for it's great value for money and compact size.

For SW Newton, i Use a Baader ClickLock ;)

If you use a baader click lock beware it will push the drawtube further into the ota and eat into your stars , if you can connect using a m48/54 adapter less chance of tilt  https://www.firstlightoptics.com/adapters/astro-essentials-m48-adapter-for-sky-watcher-newtonians-and-72ed-refractor-m54.html
also think about changing the dovetail to a longer one as it becomes camera heavy using a longer dovetail let’s you compensate for that trying to find a balance point

baader quicklock and this adapter can be used with camera, filterdraw, extention tubes etc or is it just for eye pieces? at the moment i went with a cheap 2" compression ring. as for dovetail i have a large geoptik that should work a treat!

Yes you can use camera  ,filter wheel etc , a cliclock holds very very well especially when you’ve an expensive camera hanging upside down , a threaded is used to try to eliminate any tilt to the system.
