Mounting a MeLe 4C

I'd say 3/4 of the stuff I've used my  3D printer for is astro stuff.  A lot of it stuff like this. A dew shield for my C8. Tripod leg power brick holders. There's as a ton of stuff you can design and make.

Friend of mine sent me this post as if it was "bad news" because I happen to sell a mount for the MeLE Mini PCs. But I just wanted to get ahead of things and say this is great! It's not like I own the idea of using a 3D printer to attach astro gear to other astro gear. Plus of course I imagine my audience is mostly people who don't have a 3d printer of their own. 

How do you like the MeLE 4C? I've been using my 3Q and am happy with it, though I wish it were a smidge faster. But I appreciate that it's fanless and runs on 12V.

Hahaha I had a look at your mount and I’ll get ahead of things too by saying I never saw your mount previous to you posting it!! The designs are very similar!!

I’m loving the MeLe 4C, though for some things I still miss the ASIAir but NINA is just so much better

I used double sided velcro to connect my Mele Quieter 3C to my Wanderer PowerBox Ultimate v3, which has its own dovetail joint… That seemed like the simplest solution to me, followed by using the Mele's VESA bracket attached to the rings or dovetail in some way.. 

Simple stuff.

I was using double sided Velcro as well and mounting the MeLe to the EAF!! It was positioned nicely but it was a bit of a fiddle at times so thought of a more “stable” solution

I went for a simpler solution: a running armband for smartphones (something like this: https://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Running-360%C2%B0Rotatable-Smartphones-Detachable/dp/B0DS26WHGB/ref=sr_1_10)

It's true that my MeLE PCG02 is smaller than the 4C and it is mounted on the tripod. I actually used two such armbands: one for the MeLE and one for its power pack.

I know, this is a bit outside of the mounting discussion, but I am interested in the MeLe 3C, but before I would acquire it, I would like to know if the TheSkyX program (from Bisque) is working on it. Does anybody know?

I have a 3C and, while the SkyX mostly works with it, there are some features that don't.  Most notably for me is the "@focus3" routine.  It cashes out of the SkyX if you run it.  My understanding is that they used a new compiler that includes commands that are not supported by Celeron processors.  I believe they have no intention of fixing this issue, so the solution is to upgrade any computer running TheSkyX to a non-Celeron processor.  The Mele 4c uses an N100 chip which reportedly works.  However, I have no first hand experience with the 4c, so I can't confirm that it will work.

I am using TheSkyX only for movement and polar alignment, so that would be then not a big hurdle. Interesting about the processor problem, they should not use those special commands 😊.

Yes, it’s true that the winter weather decreases the Melé temperature but it’s always irradiating heat so much better to not to attach it directly to the tube.
