You may have heard of Continuum?

Two years ago, I began an artistic project to explore the many dimensions of our human relationship with the sky.
To do this, I set up two twin telescopes in Morocco and Chile, giving access to the whole sky, and started to write.

The medium is, for now, mostly video oriented : each episode offers a journey into what connects us with the sky, through music, imagery, narration, and English subtitles.
Please note : this is a non-profit project.

The corresponding images are shared here on Astrobin in full resolution, and submitted to the IOTD.
Here's the last one for reference : https://www.astrobin.com/5lsiz5/

There are 64 episodes on Youtube already. You can find the most recent one here : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjjl6wy-rSDFAE0toiQxHwg

This thread is a space for conversation and connection around the ideas explored in the series.
Whether you have a question, a thought to share, or simply a kind word, you’re warmly welcome here!

Wonderful project, and the episode I just watched was remarkable. The fact that I don’t speak French actually made it even more enjoyable because it added to the mystique of the imagery. Subscribed!

Thank you. I often wonder how the project feels to a non French speaker. I take good pride in hand-crafting the translation and synchronization of the subtitles, in this age of IA.

Hi!

Episode #62 is out : https://youtu.be/hseCCc5129k

Here's a preview : "Earth is often depicted as being located in a quiet, uneventful suburb of our galaxy. A convenient place, not too far from the center, but also benefiting from the calm of the outskirts. As if we were looking for some kind of rationality to our existence, the Universe, like a good father, would have chosen this spiral arm to settle us. The prospectus reads “Orion's Spur, secondary arc of the Milky Way, suburban community where life is good, between the major arms of Perseus and Sagittarius”. However, if the description is accurate in space, it loses its substance in the dynamics of time: our sun and its entourage of planets have been on the move ever since they began."

I hope you'll enjoy watching as much as I did producing !

Hi!

Episode #64 is out : https://youtu.be/F1sF4tIcNIk

Here's what it's about : "At the Chilbolton radio telescope, a rider and her mount are enjoying the fresh air on this August morning in 2001. A little further out on the plain, she notices that in this landscape dominated by the observatory's antenna, in an adjacent field, the wheat is lying down. Not as if blown by a chaotic gust of wind, but rather in a pattern that evokes the hand of man, intentional devastation. She contacts the authorities."

I hope you'll enjoy watching as much as I did digging the subject !

Hi!

A new episode of Continuum is scheduled for today https://youtu.be/poQT9mVmPds

"Where our ancestors once maintained a direct, sensory, physical relationship with the sky, for most contemporaries the connection with the firmament is now more a matter of fiber optics than of artistic fiber. As with so many other aspects of our lives, we have shifted the stars onto our screens. And from above, celestial light now falls upon the inert silicon of our cameras, rather than on the delicate canvas of our retinas."

Woah, you’ve seen a lot of the project’s evolution since then! From the muted beginnings to the first voice-over, and now the broader topics.

Honestly, they're all excellent. If I had to choose just one, I couldn't!

Cheers!
