Astrototilla did not solve 0.0s

I am using iOptron cem 25p mount with canon 5D mk II and tamron 150-600mm.  I use Backyard EOS, Stellarium and Astro tortilla in an attempt tp platesolve.  Astrotortilla takes a picture but then reports unable to solve 0.0s.  I believe this means it was unable to platesolve within 0.0 seconds.  I have no idea what setting would give AT more time in which to complete a solution.  My online searches provide no help.

Hi John,

I do not use any of your gear or software so can't possibly point out what exactly might be a problem. But my gut feeling says it could just be a software glitch. Did the problem remain after the full restart of all components?

If yes, then I would recommend that you upload the same image to any other platesolving software and see if it works. If no, then, there could be a problem with the image itself. If the stars are too out of focus, or too dim, the software might not recognise them and the plate solving will not be possible.

Clear skies!

Thank you for the reply David.  The problem has persisted beyond several restarts.  Your suggestion that my focus may be bad is a good one.  So is your suggestion that my image may be too dim.  I will set focus before I attempt to platesolve.  I have changed the ISO from 800 to 6400 on my test shots in Astrotortilla .  Clear, moonless skies forecast for this evening.  Will let you know how things turnout.

Hi John,

You might consider using ASTAP, it is much faster and very rarely fails for me, usually when clouds have interfered

Thank you for responding, Rob.  Are you using Backyard EOS for camera management?  If not, what are you using?

I’m using NINA with the nightly updates (so latest version) I’m not very familiar with DSLR’s for imaging but I think NINA does support them.
