Not sure if anyone else has had any Wi-Fi issues when the scope tube is between the ASIair and the phone or tablet you’re using to control it: sometimes I find that a problem and may be worth just checking…
Yes, a metal scope tube definitely hurts Wi-Fi communications when it comes between the ASIAIR antenna and your receiver. Depending on your target location this can be difficult to avoid with the ASIAIR mounted on the scope. I mount it their because it minimizes the chance of cable snags.
A solution that I’m very happy with is to use a travel router as an extender for the ASIAIR access point. This avoids the need for an ethernet cable, but is almost as fast. I connect the travel router to a USB power pack. Mine is good for a couple of long nights. I then place the router at a location with a clear view of both the ASIAIR antenna and where I’m located. I’ve had reliable communications fast enough for APS-C camera images from over 100’ away and through a couple of adobe walls.
