On an ASIair, you can set the ROI for the camera in the camera settings menu, choosing between full frame or APS-C. I can't find the corresponding NINA setting, if there is one.

From an imaging standpoint, No.  I stand corrected.  Thx

You can create ROIs in NINA with Sequencer Powerups.  It’s an option in one of the Smart Exposure commands.  I’m not near my computer now so can’t be more specific, but if you don’t find it LMK and I’ll give you more details a bit later.

I found it in the Take Subframe Exposure instruction. So if I put that instruction in the Sequence Start Area, it will set the ROI for all later Smart Exposure instructions? Also, the ROI is in percentage from center of image, equally on XY axis. I see a problem, unless the ratio of FF to APS-C is equal on both axis. Time to bring in my mathematician. I'm not sure if the ASI6200 is locked into two ROI choices, or not. The ASIair+ only offers two choices for ROI when setting up the ASI6200 and they are the same manufacturer as the camera.

Hi Dave.  I typically set up a loop for my exposures, using Loop Until Time.  Within the loop I then have my Smart Exposure or occasionally Smart Subframe Exposure commands, one for each filter.  Run through the filters, rinse and repeat, until the necessary time to stop.

Note that Smart Subframe Exposure+ gives you two options on the right-hand side, ROI or Dimensions.  With ROI you specify your desired percentage of the frame, and if memory serves the ROI will be centered on the center of the sensor.  With Dimensions you specify X, Y, height and width (see the NINA Discord channel for a discussion of that), and that allows you to specify a subframe of any size, in any position on the sensor.

Clear skies!

Hi Jeff,
Are you saying there is a 'Smart Subframe Exposure+' ? It's not in my list of instructions. 'Smart Exposure' offers no ROI options.

The only camera instruction I see with an ROI option is below and it has no sensor format option:

Also, maybe I have a version issue. I am running 3.1.2.9001

EDIT: Nope! This is the latest stable edition according to their site.

Hi Dave, have you installed the Sequencer Powerups plug-in?   That’s where you’ll find it.

Ahah!  Thanks, Jeff!

Hi Jeff,
So after looking at the percentages, it looks like 65 percent of a full frame very closely equals the XY of APS-C. 65.2 and 65.3. Going with that, I won't have to determine the center as the percentage method chooses it by default. Anyway, I'll have to play with it. Thanks!

Glad to help.  Clear skies!

I worked with Marc (NINA Developer) to create the Smart Subframe Exposure powerup that allows one to work off of dimensions. I’ve using it for about 6 months so I think the bugs are worked out. Here how I use it with the ASI 6200MM pro camera:
