Hello everyone.
Because I was sad to see this beautiful application no longer available and a bit abandoned. I had tried to contact Chris, with no return.
So I decided to fork his code and recompile the binaries. To do this, I ran SER player under Qt6.
The binaries are now hosted by the Siril team, at this address: https://free-astro.org/index.php?title=SER_Player
Please note that only 64-bit versions are available.
Also, the minimum version of macOS is now 10.15, but an Apple Silicon version is available.

Don't hesitate to send me your feedback and share the information. I don't intend to actively develop the application, which is fine as it is, but just keep it alive and up to date.

Regards,

Cyril Richard

Very good initiative!

I was wondering also about Pipp, it's a brilliant piece of software from Chris as well, but no longer maintained and neither downloadable any longer. Do you know if there is any initiative to continuate it?

As far as I know, PIPP is not opensource. So there's nothing I can do.

It's good to know that PIPP can't be downloaded anymore. I'll have to guard and protect the copy I do have on my processing machine because every once in a blue moon I'll turn to it to solve unusual problems.

We are still able to download a 2014 version of PIPP from here: https://pipp.software.informer.com/download/

This probably won't be around for much longer as all of the other versions, including 2.5, are not available.

Most of the things PIPP do, Siril do it.

I think a better archiving place is this:

There are some critical reviews and possible issues regarding informer (dot) com.
