The new Optolong filter arrived at my place, I managed to take some pictures with it during the holidays. I was interested to see what this model would look like under the sky. I was not asked to write an article on the subject, but I had the time and the inclination at the end of the year. I also took two pictures, have deliberately chosen different ways of processing the pictures so that everyone can find something to their liking. You will also find a comparison of the whole product family at the end of the article (L-Para, L-eNhanche, L-eXtreme, L-Ultimate filters).

Well done, this will be a useful filter for many. Buy the way, It is nice to see work from someone in the country of my family origin. My mom grew up in Eger.

I am glad if you think so.
Wov Eger is beautiful, an important jewel of medieval Hungarian history!

It's nothing special, I'm doing the classic processing. For the pre-processing I use APP with the occasional addition of Registar, and Photoshop for the post-processing steps.

Mmmm... all I get is red. Not significantly better than no filter https://www.astrobin.com/rcfqcp/

Yes, but the data is there in these images to achieve a similar result as with mono cameras (obviously not as strikingly, but there). Only the proportions are different. But if you tune the color channels separately (even just with curves or selective color management), then classic false color solutions are achievable.

Outstanding work on this review!
Very nicely laid out and very informative.
My inly narrowband filter is the L-Enhance which I have enjoyed imaging with for many years and has done well in my B7 skies.
I’ve been looking at a new filter and the L-para is definitely worth looking into a bit more.
Thank you Lorand!
