What To Do If None Of The Light Frames Don't Have Many Stars?

Hello and welcome! I would like to ask anyone using astrophotography software to process their images for some advice. Recently, I captured 400 frames of the Skull Nebula with my Seestar. However, I have encountered an issue with Siril: the star registration fails every time I try to pre-process the images.  Previously, I used OSC pre-processing without DBF; however, I only managed to stack the frames with the Seestar pre-processing script. The pre-processing has struggled to stack all of the frames, which means that although I have 400 frames, I am unable to register them all.  What should I do in this situation? Also, does the stacked file still resemble what a registered and stacked image would look like, or could it differ significantly? Thank you!

hello.

first base. the stacked image from Siril will not look anything like a generally processed astro final image.
Siril stacks the data and creates a RESULTS file which is linear. it will look almost black when you load it into Siril.
Before the Siril Results file looks like a final image you need to process it (inside Siril)

Processes as follows.

1. Background extraction.
2.  Cropping.
3. Photometric colour Calibration.
4. Stretching.

these are probably the minimum needed steps for basic processing.

when you load a results file into Siril, make sure to turn on the Autostretch button, which will enable you to see the data, by way of a non applied stretch.

this helps you to see what is going on when you are applying the processing steps mentioned earlier.

this is a very good You Tube tutorial, which covers the basics. best to watch it from the start.
