Filter Drawer Solutions and Mono Workflow for RASA 8 with ASI 2600MM Pro

Hi everyone,I recently bought a RASA 8, which I plan to use with my ASI 585 MC Pro. However, I also own an ASI 2600MM Pro and would love to use it with the RASA 8. Unfortunately, I’m struggling to find a suitable filter drawer solution.I came across the Starizona Filter Drawer, but it doesn’t work with the ASI 2600MM Pro due to backfocus issues. The only alternative I’ve found so far is the Starizona Filter Holder. However, this would require removing the camera every time I want to change a filter, which doesn’t seem like an ideal workflow.Does anyone know of any filter drawer solutions that work with this setup? If not, I’d appreciate insights into what a good mono workflow with the ASI 2600MM Pro might look like. Also, I’d love to hear recommendations for good narrowband filters optimized for f/2 systems :-)Best regards,
Björn

Hi Bjorn,
The astronomik filter Maxfr are good with Rasa8. as for the 2600mm, the only option is the filter holder. There is a filter drawer available but very expensive, recently discontinued.

There is another way, I found recently. Inexpensive filter drawer.

Hi Bjorn

I have a RASA8 and a 2600MM pro.

I use this astrodevice adapter. Unfortunately it is discontinued now, I know that doesn't help you unfortunately.

You can also use the ASG Photocage. It is expensive, but I've heard it's very good.

For filters, I use the Baader Ultra-Highspeed SHO filters. They work great!

I know the thread is old, but Twinstar (Slovenian astro company) built automated filter wheel for RASA 8: https://twinstar.si/shop/octaslide-model-rasa8/

My sugestion to you is the Altair Astro filter drawer. I have two of them and from what I know they are the thinnest filter drawers in the market. Also they have three versions, T2/M42, M48 and M54 threads. The filter drawer of Altair is 17mm thickness, as far as I know the Starizonna is 17.5mm. At f/2.2 those 0.5mm will make a difference, but you can fill those 0.5mm with those shimmer rings that ZWO sends with the cameras and you'll be fine. I'm not seeing other way to replace the Starizonna filter drawer that allows other types of threads and they are not expensive compared to Starizonna and other brands.
For filters, trust me when I say this: go with the Astronomik MaxFR 6nm line. For fast systems, there's no other bests in the market for pre-shifted filters.

I know that I'm talking about regarding filters (I own those MaxFr 6nm) and beside the filter drawers from Altair, I don't have a RASA 8", but I own the Hyperstar that combined with my C8 Classic, gives the same system.

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Cesar

UV/IR filter (L-Pro or Astronomik L-3) + L-Extreme in the same optical train
Since I have an ASI 533MC Pro without any UV/IR filter, I was thinking of permanently mounting an Optolong L-Pro filter in the dedicated thread of an ASKAR SQA55 (Petzval design). I would then also use a ZWO filter drawer in the optical train to some...
