Deep Sky Stacker not working - Forums

Hi All, need some help with DSS. I have been using it for 3 years but today I am totally lost.
I took 66 images in HA last nite, stacked today in both 32bit and 64 bit and every time I am getting an image of
a different star field...its operating normally and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the 64 bit version. Same issue.
attached are my stack image and then a single ha frame..the star fields dont match??

I use darks and flats..tried stacking just 5 images with no calibration frames and this same star field is coming up..its not the image I was processing?!?!

What's going on?
Any suggestions appreciated. I must be missing something stupid...

I also recently had some problem with DSS- bad alignment and glitches with flats. I changed settings but still it works not so well. The same time my imaging program SIPS suddenly dropped all settings to factory ones- realky strange. All this s..t happened after Windows update- is it related to these issues?

Hello and thanks for the replies. I "fixed" the issue by checking in Settings the "Bilinerar Interpolation" method of Bayer Matrix Transformation after seeing that I had checked "Create Super-Pixels….." . I checked that since it was recommended for HA data but appears not in my case.

Once I did that, my stack came out right…of course after reinstalling the 64 bit version, really who knows what happened, but its working now.

I am trying to refresh my skills, but feel really rusty. I got a very nice set of fits files but wasted few hours trying to register images. For some reasons DSS (I upgraded to 5.1 version) register the files but they disappear, I cannot find them. Normally registered files should be in the same folder as final images but they are not…. The program shows successful registration and even stacking but , there are the registered files, God knows. I also tried Maxim 5 but again failed. Aligning files are problematic even manually with two stars, getting double stars and unclear image. Somehow I managed to align the images but not perfectly. I cannot use PI (my laptop will not survive this software), but old soft does not work well for me too. Any ideas?
