So, I took my mount apart to try to fix a stripped bolt and I ended up destroying this tiny little PCB board that watches the slot in a plastic disc attached to the RA worm gear.

I've only ever seen replacement motherboards for the EQ6-R. Not the optical indexer (which is the board you broke).
This guy says he disconnected the indexer cable and got more or less the same guiding... some guy in the comments says it's only important if you use PEC. https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/559399-worm-gear-indexer-important/

Not to self-plug super hard, but if you can't find a replacement indexer board and you aren't OK with just going without the indexer, I can repair it. Though I'd probably need to charge ~$120 + shipping just because I doubt I can find an exact replacement for the port you broke, so I'd need to solder jumper wires onto those traces and then splice them into the cable that plugs into that board.
But hopefully you can go without repairing it if you don't care about PEC.

Wait! Are you saying that my mount isn't destroyed and that it will work WITHOUT this thing connected??
I'm quite sure Noah is right. The sensor is just a simple light barrier and for guiding etc. it isn't precise enough to play any main part in the equiation. If the main controller works without the board (try to slew it) then everything should work fine. It makes sense that it may be needed for PEC. It may give the controller a signal when the worm has finished it's full rotation. Maybe it can have an impact on the limits of the mount as well. But all this can be handled in software as well. If you are able to slew the mount manually (using the motors of course), it should work just fine. Just try it…

I unplugged mine to test for this post. All that is lost is PEC. Mount works fine!
