I use two 1kg weights from ioptron on a long threaded bolt from hardware shop. The AZGTi is quite stiff and hard to balance but I have used it successfully up to 360mm FL but mainly keep it for my 135mm lens now.
with my AZ-GTI carring a 4 Kg telescope payload, I use an ordinary M12 x 1.75 threaded bar, about 40 cm long, with 1.5 Kg counterweight
Of course you have to experiment to reach real balance
BTW if you can design simple 3D pieces, and then 3d print them, these bars with bolts are very handy
