Hi all,

This may be the wrong forum but after seeing on social media (mainly FaceBook) all these comet hunters posting alkmost daily images of various comets and doing astro/photometry measurements it's got me interested in doing the same but I don't know where to start and there's not much on the internet on where to start, software needed, ideal equipment required etc etc!!

Does anyone here dabble in this little side hobby that can help me out or point me in the right direction!!

My current setup is an Evolux 62ED coupled to a 2600mm or a Canon 7D Mk2 coupled to a 150-600mm lense, control and capture via an asiair and I use PixInsight for image calibration!!

Cheers all and Clear Sies

Hi Sam,
I dabbled with spectroscopy a few years ago with a Star Analyser 100 grating, lots of info on the web how to go about it. You don’t need a big telescope, can even be done with a telephoto lens, there is free software to process the spectra too.
Rspec software is also very good as mentioned above.
