Minimum gpu?

The difference a 1060 provides is significant so I agree that is a good minimum. I built myself a new processing PC and upgraded my 1060 to a 4070 TI and that really bumped the performance up even more. My PC runs BXT and StarX more than fast enough to meet my needs so I think upgrading to a 4080 or 4090 wouldn't make enough of a difference to be justifiable.

I would add a caveat that this opinion probably caps out to APS-C image sizes. I'm guessing that the ultra high end cards make a significant difference for anyone churning through the mega file sizes from full frame sensors.

Last I checked, AstroPixelProcessor (look at the forum this is in) does not use the GPU for anything except smooth rendering of the UI. No actual number crunching is done, a discrete GPU isn't needed for APP. 

If you're buying with an eye on the future, all GPU acceleration of Tensorflow on Windows is in limbo as far as the future goes, with the exception of WSL2. Caveat Emptor
