I currently have a ZWO asi183gt but have been wanting to switch to a camera with a 294mono sensor but I am not sure of the best way to budget/plan. i want to try and get a a camera like asi294mm ( or other variants from other companies ) as well as a 7 position filter wheel with lrgb sho filters. i feel a trade won't work because what im giving is just a different sensor and a 5 position filter wheel and asking for a 7 position ( so i feel like a filter drawer is more reasonable but i want to try and go for a filter wheel as it is easier for mono imaging) i just want to know how viable this would be for a trade or how much it could total if i choose to sell it on its own?(also sorry if i used the wrong category)

I assume, a trade wont work. The ASI183 is a smaller sensor with only 12 bit of depth. The ASI294 is a 4/3rds sensor with 14 Bits depth. I see no reason why someone wants to trade the 294 for a 183. It is the better camera and with the higher pixel count, it is much more flexible. So you may need to sell your 183gt. But don't expect wonders here. It is a nice camera in my opinion with the filter wheel, but as you already told us, it has its downsides. I bought a color version of the QHY 183c for 500€ some time ago. It took me a while to decide if I buy it and the camera offer was active for a long time. So most of the money you have to spend yourself for the new setup.
I own the ASI183M Pro as well as the 294M Pro, both with 7 position filter wheels and the matching filters. I bought a 5pos filter wheel some time ago to save money. But meanwhile I switched to the 7pos wheel for the reasons you already mentioned.
The ASI294 is a great tool in my opinion. It is a bit outdated, but it's cheaper than the 2600 versions out there. I use it for years now and I am really happy to have it. It is a perfect match for most of my scopes and it is a really flexible camera. So you can't go wrong with it, if you use proper calibration frames. There is a lot of amp glow.
A full mono setup is quite expensive. With camera, filter wheel and filters, it is quite an investment. But it's totally worth it.
