Hi there,
I hadn’t realised that there was an NZ specific group on here until Daniel Petzen pointed it out to me.
My name is Andy and I live in Waipawa, Central Hawke’s bay.
I've been into astronomy most of my life and astrophotography proper for about the last 5 years.
I most often use an SW 150pds reflector and an SW 80 Ed Esprit. I couple this will either my asi1600mm pro or my new toy, an asi 533mc pro.
I will be perusing all of your images and, please, feel free to check my images out 😊
I look forward to chatting with you all…..
in the mean time Kia Ora one and all
cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy,
…..from up here in Auckland (and sometimes from Northland).
Will definitely peruse your gallery  - nice to see another Kiwi on AB.
I saw your 'once in a lifetime' aurora shot (beautiful) and I've heard there was another big burst from the sun on the 1/10 so fingers crossed maybe for a 'twice in a lifetime' smile
Cheers

Welcome to the group Andy. I mostly image at the moment with a 250mm aperture f/5.8 Corrected Dall-Kirkham scope made by Beamtech in Australia, or a C11 Edge HD SCT with a Hyperstar lens at f/2, or less often with 130 or 140 mm f/7 APO refractors from TS and APM, using mainly a ZWO ASI2600MC Pro camera, and capturing my data with a ZWO Asiair Plus device, on a 10Micron brand mount, from our rural backyard.

I  also like your Aurora shot very much. I got a few images that May night just with my Samsung mobile phone hand-held, from here in the northern Bay of Plenty. I missed the more recent aurora nights as I was away and too close to the equator to get them.

A collage of three of my rather blurry handheld mobile phone shots of the big May Aurora from the BOP.

Hi Morrie,
good to hear from you 😊
That sounds like quite a formidable setup that you have.
Ive just had a look at your images on here…..and very impressive they are !
I am keen to do more with dark nebulas and flux. It’s a learning curve for me…..I’m keen to have a go at the dark doodad 👍
My main setups are a 150pds or an esprit 80mm used in conjunction with either a zwo asi1600mm or an asi533mc pro.
All are mounted on a HEQ5 pro.

I am based in the central Hawke’s bay.

I look forward to seeing more of your images….and I look forward to some clear skies !

cheers,

Andy
