Equipment cold weather equalization

Hi Folks,

With fall and winter approaching.. I was wondering what the best way was, to equalized equipment temperatures when I take it outside, and bring it in after a nights session….

I'm mostly concerend with mosture / condensation forming on, and hopefully not in the telescope. I was thinking bring the scope out and setting up, and leaving it under cover maybe 2 to 3hrs prior to the night session…

Once the session was over I wasn't sure if maybe it might be better to bring the rig into the garage and leave it in there until the next day, to let it gradually warm up.. the garage is un-heated, but should be a few degrees warmer than the outside. The other oprion is to just bring it into the house after session where it'll be much warmer

Thoughts??

Thanks

I always wrapped everything in multiple towels when I brough them in( sometimes hid them in the wardrobe). This meant that the equipment slowly warmed up. This way I did not get any condensation

Garage it?  Keep it cold.

The garage will help, especially as a transition to the house, but putting the scope in a plastic bag before bringing it in is the best thing.

If it's workable, you might even consider just leaving your rig in the garage for the winter months. Much less thermal stress and exposure to condensation. It's would already be close to ambient so by the time you get it mounted and everything powered up, the optics are ready to go.

hey Folks….. After reading the replies, and thinking about it….. Leaving the scope in the garage for the winter, will probably be the best solution

Thanks
