Playerone vs. ToupTek IMX533 Color

Hello everyone!
I recently started to consider upgrading my camera and moving from my canon2000d (astromodified) to a camera with a 533 color sensor.

Looking around the classic alternatives are ZWO, PlayerOne and Touptek.

I would have ruled out the ZWO: higher price, I am not going to work with ASI Air and exclusive rear hub for ZWO accessories. On the last point I am not 100% sure but in any case it costs more than all the others.

I was leaning mainly toward the PlayerOne since on the quality level it seems really incredible. Recently, however, I saw that, at my local dealer, the ToupTek is also on sale for about 250 euros less than the PlayerOne .

What scares me about the touptek is mainly the absence of detailed documentation, reviews and information online. For example just to find the unity gain is already challenging.

In your opinion, does it make sense to invest that extra 250 euros to make sure everything runs smoothly?

Separate question for those who have switched from APSc to the square sensor of the 533: do you feel the sensor reduction so much? I almost see it as a benefit, but online you read all kinds of things!

Thank you very much!

I got a Touptek, well, actually an Altair which essentially are Touptek rebranded or so I'm told. The only point I see in paying extra is if they incorporate a tilt adjuster which can be actually used in the field (and that discounts ZWO). So, if you are prepared to shim and tweak then I'll go for the lowest costing one or otherwise is the PlayerOne.

As for the 2nd question, if it fits the required FOV is all good.

Hi, thank you very much for your reply!
Yes indeed the playerone mounts the sensor tilter plate, although frontally and not at the rear, while the touptek does not seem to have this feature.

I was concerned about the lack of documentation, but actually, if you are willing to spend a little extra time on it, it shouldn't be a problem. I hope...

On the tilter I hadn't thought about that, it's probably a big selling point for the playerone....

Thank you very much again!

Hello everyone! I recently got my self a Quattro300P with a CQ350 mount. The combination of those two instruments is just astonishing, but perhaps quite expensive… Since I still don't have a cooled camera, I am currently imaging at 1200 FL ...
