Can the ASI2600mm/APS-C chip be used with 36mm unmounted filters?

Hello

I'm thinking of getting another 2600mm. I was originally considering the ASI6200MM, but after seeing that 2" filters are insufficient and learning about other full frame concerns, I've come to the conclusion that another 2600 would be a better option. I'm hoping to be able to use 36mm unmounted filters with it since I could use a FW with 36mm filters that is currently used with a 4/3 camera I own.

I use the asi2600mm on a redcat51 with 36mm unmounted filters. I have no issues with them.

It even works on an Epsilon (f/3.3).

Yep 36mm works great with 2600xx cameras.

I use the ASI2600MM with 36mm filters and TEC 140mm scope - no issues….

I use mine with 36mm unmounted filters with no issues at all. You can double check by looking on https://astronomy.tools/ and under calculators look up filter size. Put in all your scope and camera details and it will let you know for sure

Thank you for the comments. Interesting, when I check astronomy tools, it says 48mm/2" filters would work with the ASI6200. Now i'm a bit tempted to the 6200 again, since I have a 2" filter wheels that I could swap around.

Yes. With fast optics, a more ideal mounting is the filter wheel attached to the face of the camera to reduce an amount of possible vignetting, but in any case, it would be easily addressed with flats.

Definitely work on my 2600mm with Askar FRA400 with reduce to 280mm F/3.9  
No Vignette at all ;)

Same as you, I was thinking of the 6200mm to pair with my Sharpstar SCA260 but due to tilt concerns I'm sticking with the 2600mm. Thinking of getting another one for my F5.5 refractor.

I use my current 2600mm with chroma 36mm unmounted and I have no issues. This time I'll get the astronomik 36mm MaxFR for the refractor

I have the SCA260 as well, and was toying with it or my 9.25 edge for the 6200mm. I get few clear nights and the thought of fighting with tilt on one of them is not what I'd like to be doing. I also have a Pleiades 68, and it's enough of a fight to get the backspacing correct; adding tilt to the equation would be no fun. lol

I have 50mm round unmounted filters with my 6200mm. They are sufficient. You might have slight dropoff in the corners, but nothing flats won't take care of. The increased field of view is very useful, especially if you have an OTA with a FL of more than 800mm because it expands your FOV significantly. 

As others said, 36mm and APS-C also should work fine. 

This is 6200mm / 50mm round unmounted filters and Epsilon 160ED

I have been using a 6200mm with my RASA 11 and 2" filters for 2 years and have had no real issues a bit of Vignetting but i got that with my 2600mm as well and it easily taken care of in post

NO matter what I would also  get a ASG Photon cage  for any camera you end up with…. any tilt and BF issues you may have on ANY camera are gone with the ASG it is the single best investment ive made after buying my 6200 and RASA  , in IMO it is a MUST have if you truly want a flat field and round stars!!! 

Ive had both the 2600mm and MC and IMO the 6200MM just blow them away..not only can you shoot at Full frame but APS-C as well it like having 2 cameras in one

my camera list ive had  in order 183, 1600mm 533mc, 294mc 533mm, 2600mc, 2600mm, 6200mm

6200mm ASG photon cage and your   set!!

For anything ~f/2.4 or slower they will be fine as long as you remove the tilt plate and bolt the FW directly to the camera.

Yep!!! I use 36mm filters on my 2600 and have no problems with excessive vignetting or anything like that! It's a perfect set!
