Tom Palmer's Target Scheduler

Hello Astrobin members

I have finally implemented the Target Scheduler's in NINA's acquisition this year although I am still rolling my rigs out and in every imaging night. It has been a great experience so far and it allows me more freely to follow other interests and spend more time with my partner and friends. TS selects effortless targets out of my large list, based on the set project criteria and moon avoidance. Even in nights of a full moon, I have images in my folder the next morning, while before I had to calculate and manually set this all up individually.
As there was no Group dedicated to the Target Scheduler here on Astrobin (surprised!) but many others, I thought it would be appropriate to create one and hopefully other members using it, will associate their images to the group. A big shout-out and thank you to Tom Palmer, the person behind this fabulous plug-in. Cheers

Thank you for developing this great tool. I'm learning how to use it because I'm going to be using a hosting service soon and I want to get the most out of it.
As I use TS, I'll write my impressions and questions.
Thank you very much for this

Hi Jordy, I am not the developer of Target Scheduler. That would be Tom Palmer. I however, started this platform here on Astrobin because I thought it would be of help and also interesting for like-minded users to exchange experiences and thoughts and share images collected while using the Target Scheduler.
Cheers - Georg

Hi Georg, even with my confusion, when I have them I will post my photos obtained with TS here. I will also comment on my problems, mistakes and successes in using TS.
See you soon!!!

I am now 4 months into my journey using the Target Scheduler on both of my rigs. My experiences so far have been positive. Few weeks after I started, there were some plug-in updates that gave some headaches as TS post flats stoped to run properly. Tom fixed this problem almost immediately. From there on I had a smooth sailing, until about 2 weeks ago, when my rotator, the Pegasus Falcon V2 stoped to react on post flats commands to rotate to a certain position. TS clearly identifies the targets and their angle and the rotator reacts to some. But then, after the second or third target's flats are done, the sequence goes into an endless loop waiting for the rotator to move. I checked the logs and all looks to be OK on the TS and NINA side. Pegasus Astro tech support was surprisingly unhelpful with trying to troubleshoot the Falcon rotator or help read their logs. I have in the meantime switched the TS sequence around to take flats directly after each target but have not been able to confirm that the sequence runs without problems. Clouds and bad seeing conditions have brought my imaging season to a halt. I am left with about 30 nights before packing up and returning to Canada.
