ZWO EAF and Guidescope Disconnects

I had a similar issue. When I tried connecting my Lodestar guide camera into my ASI2600MC it froze. Since then I have connected a ZWO filter wheel and it works fine. Just a guess: only ZWO accessories will work.

It's not the data cable to the ASIAIR+, only the peripheral components like the guidescope and EAF.  I do use a USB-3 data cable for image capture.  Thanks.

I have the asiair+ and it has not aged well. the sd card fails regularly and wifi bad. I actually don't trust the device I use it to power a dew strip now. that being said I would say that the usb ports on the camera are likely faulty as your other devices are working as expected connected directly to the asiair. (my asiair mini works flawlessly, but going forward will likely not replace the air device and go an alternative route.)

I don't own an ASI air. But from an outsiders perspective, the main power supply maybe is not able to deliver enough current or maybe the cable to the ASI air is too thin? I had those issues on other equipment as well. It seems, that some devices are deactivated by the USBs power controller to prevent problems. I can't say, if this is the case, but maybe you should at least have a look.

I, personally, haven't seen this problem with rather similar gear as yours, Michael. I'd really check out your power supply to the camera. I have my camera power connected directly to my power source that is over-spec'd to ensure that the camera will work with cooling and connected EAF & guide camera. For me, this works like a charm (the same power source runs my ASiair+, as well). You might like to try a good old-fashioned SLA battery to power your camera (12.5V @ multiple amps available)! It would at least eliminate that possible problem. Also, check that you aren't losing any power with your cable to the camera - again, an over-spec'd cable would be good to use, in case.
