I'm really pleased to have joined Astrobin. There are some wonderful images here. It's also nice to see complete beginners to the hobby too.

I've been doing visual Astronomy for over 40 years and got bitten by the imaging bug 3 years ago.

My equipment includes a de-forked NexStar 11 gps on an Ioptron CEM60-EC mount and a William Optics Zenithstar 73 for wide field work. I also have a small ROR observatory.

Thank you for having me, clear skies!

Tony.

welcome Tony from Brisbane Australia. I'm a similar vintage to you in Astronomy although have had sproradic forays into imaging since the days of B&W film. How are the Channel Is. for Astro …? could imagine relatively dark as far as Europe goes? Anyway clear skies to you as well! Cheers rob

Thanks Rob! Astro is a bit hit and miss here in Jersey. I've got Bortle 4 in the back garden, but the front is unusable because of street lights. The best place to go in the Channel Islands is Sark, they've got dark sky status which is good for astro tourism.

Hello Tony,
Welcome from Down Under in Sydney Australia !

Ive only been on Astrobin for 3 weeks, and have been amazed at the images posted here
and the many interesting people I've connected with from all over the world.

I certainly like your first image of the Bubble Nebula - I hope you enjoy using AsrtroBin as much as I do

Best regards,

Gatry

Thanks Gary, glad to have broken the ice with my first image! I'm just getting used to how Astrobin works, the plate solving system is incredible!

Just had a look at your images, I wish Sculptor wasn't so low down in this part of the world.

Best wishes & clear skies!

Tony.

Hello Tony,

I'm also from Jersey and have just started out on this fascinating hobby.

Waiting for the arrival of my telescope and mount so currently using the clear skies to practise targeting, capture and processing skills with my DSLR.

Really impressed with your images and look forward to seeing more…

Hi Joe, nice to meet you on Astrobin. Hope your gear doesn't take too long to arrive. Just out of curiosity, what are you getting?

Yes it is a wonderful hobby, the only thing that lets it down is the weather!

Thanks Tony,

I've ordered a Skywatcher 130PDS and an EQ35M mount.  Hopefully a good starter setup.

Been waiting since April and due any time now so ordered an AZ-GTI in the interim and have been using this to learn…

Plan is to become competent with the setup above and then decide about upgrading to a proper camera, etc…

Yes weather has been frustrating recently.  It's been clear at around 19:00 only to cloud over when it gets dark!

Hi Joe,

A nice selection, the 130PDS has got good reviews and it's portable! I'm sure you'll enjoy it when it arrives. You might need a bigger mount later on though!

You're doing very well with your "practice" images, looking forward to seeing some more. Andromeda is also on my target list.

Clear skies! (for both of us).

Tony.
