Hi there! I've been having a bit of an issue with my AM5 as of late, as I can't seem to get my pitch angle fine tuning knob to work. I've tried recalibrating the mount position with the hex screws on either side of the mount, but it hasn't really solved my problem. The issue is that I can turn the knob for nearly the full length of the thread/screw and my scope on top will be largely unmoved. Sometimes, it will move upward but it's only at the end of the screw, as if there's a bunch of slack on most of the length of the screw and it doesn't lift until the end if that makes sense. Rotating the screw to move the mount back down has not worked in any scenario, unless I unlock the pitch angle tensioner's on both sides of the mount and move the mount with my hands which is obviously an ineffective way of polar aligning. I've followed the official recalibration video and I still come back with this issue. In short, my pitch angle fine tuning knob does not work. Anyone got any troubleshooting tips for me?

I had a very similar issue, it ended up being the lock release knobs on the side. I forgot to release the tension before adjusting pitch. Now I during the PA process I release about 80%, make the adjustment and retighten. Not sure if that is the issue but it did sort of work in elevation increase but not decrease like you described.

If you make anything short of a very minor adjustment you should be unlocking to make any adjustments.

The mount head lowers the Alt by weight alone. If the locking knobs are just tight enough, the head won't move unless you grab it and move it. I start locking the knobs down on Alt when I have about 30" or so left to raise it, then tiny adjustments to move it up and tighten a little more. If I go over, I have to unlock it and basically start from wherever it winds up after unlocking it. I am at 30 degrees north. What is your latitude? Also, is it possible you are forward weight biased on your scope so as to hinder the mount from lowering, if that is even possible? Just a thought.
