Hi,

I already own the l-pro and l-enhance.  I would like to add an l-extreme-ish to my collection but I find the optolong a bit expensive for my current situation.

Can anyone recommend something similar but cheaper in 1.25” format ?

my SV220 works fine with my F/4.7 rig

Thx.  Cuiv posted a video about it a month ago, watching it now.

I also want to mention:

haven't used it with any bright stars (or maybe I have?)

but so far, I haven't had the halo problem

here's my best image with the filter:

smile lol

the Ultimate is even more expensive than the Extreme

he says that the Extreme is too expensive for him

I think the zwo duo-band could also be an option.  It’s cheaper than the sv220.  I’ll try to find some reviews

For comparison:

bandpass widths:

ZWO duo band, 15nm for HA, 35nm for OIII
SV220, 7nm for HA, 7nm for OIII
Your L-enhance, 10nm for HA, 24 for OIII

You can see that the ZWO is even wider than your current L-enhance

The new Antlia Quadband 2" Light pollution filter is awesome. $198.00.

he has an L-pro for broadband already though

look, in this test report it shows the difference between the Antlia Quadband and no filter https://www.researchgate.net/publication/375746691_Test_Report_-_Antlia_Quadband_ALP_Filter

Yes I saw that after posting, really not impressive.  I’m pretty much set on the svbony.  I’d love to complete my optolong collection but these things are expensive in Canada.  The l-extreme is over 300$ while the svbony is half the price at 150$.

Thanks to all who commented.  It was helpful.  I’m gonna go sleep now while my rig is shooting the Iris nebula for the next 4 hours or so.

I finally went with the SV220 which I just ordered, along with a SVBony UV/IR Cut filter and a ZWO EFW Mini.  The filter wheel is why I was looking for a cheaper alternative to the L-Extreme.  I had to keep my total under 500$ CAD

Thx again for the comments and suggestions.

I want to report back on this and say I don't know if/how much better the L-Extreme would have been but I am very happy with the SV220.  This is 6 hours of integration so far on SH2-129.   This is roughly processed, Just stacked with WBPP, removed gradient, noise, blur and STF stretching.   It looks like I am gonna get the Squid nebula if I keep adding to it.

Askar D1 and D2 https://agenaastro.com/askar-color-magic-duo-narrowband-6nm-d1-d2-h-a-o-iii-s-ii-o-iii-imaging-filter-set-2-filters-2-mounted.html Really good quality and Halo free. A little pricey but worth it! I just bought the set and they are amazing. You can use them for Hubble pallet with OSC camera if this is something that picks your interest. If you want to go for the cheaper alternative there is also, again from askar, C1 and C2 filters. https://agenaastro.com/askar-color-magic-c-duo-band-imaging-filter-set-2.html
same thing but price reflects quality. There are great reviews for both of these products from Cuiv.

Askar D1 is pathetic in performance, or at least my copy is. I would recommend to look elsewhere.

I have the ZWO duo filter, 2 LXtreme's. All show halos! I just purchased the Antlia ALP-T filter. So far, only 3 or 4 images, I am very happy, little to no halos. Doesn't introduce any funky gradients. A good filter for Ha-Oiii with an OSC camera…
