So I imaged the Coma Cluster with my Hyperstar rig a few months ago and just got around to processing it. I used the Annotate Image script in Pixinsight to count around 700 galaxies in the photo, but I was seeing more fuzzy spots than what the script markers were showing. So I found these instructions to download a much more detailed galaxy catalog to use with Annotate Image: https://www.astro-ph...s-in-pixinsight

I then put the Annotate Image layer over my original photo as a layer in photoshop and began to remove every single star from the image, leaving only the galaxies marked by the script. I'm sure it's not perfect as some of the tiny galaxies and stars are difficult to tell apart, but overall I think it worked fairly well. After doing this, I was able to count all of the galaxies that were left and came up with a count of 3773 galaxies in my image. There were many markers in which there were no galaxies showing in my photo. This meant that although there is a galaxy there, it was too faint for me to capture and I did not include these in my final count.

All of that being said, I just want to make sure that I did this correctly. I'm hoping that the process for a custom galaxy catalog in the above link is accurate, and that my galaxy count of 3773 galaxies is also accurate. I'm certainly not asking you to recount my galaxies, but if anyone sees any potential mistakes that I could have made in this entire process, I would like to know.

Here's a link to both photos: one with stars and galaxies, and one with galaxies only. Let me know what you think. https://drive.google...fBp?usp=sharing

BTW, Starnet++ would not work on this image simply because it cannot tell the difference between many of the small galaxies and stars, so I had to do all of this work manually which took FOREVER lol.

Thanks,
Daniel
