Hi folks! I'm Jim, from southern New Jersey, just across the river from Philadelphia, PA. I'm somewhat new to astrophotography, having picked up the hobby seriously about 8 months ago. I started with just a DSLR and kit lens but I quickly found that I wanted to gather light from more distant objects. As such, I picked up a WO Z61ii and all the kit needed to hook up my Canon DSLR.  The bug has since set in fully. I've purchased my first GoTo mount (AVX) and dedicated astrocam (ASI294MC Pro) along with some other bits and bobs to make things "simpler". Now, not a day goes by that I don't find myself browsing telescopes with longer focal lengths!

Welcome James,
We look forward to seeing your images in the future!
Yes the Astro bug sound like it bit you! LOL
I’m the same way I constantly search for used equipment to try out and use.

It most certainly has! I was always fascinated by stars and the planets. Living in Bortle 8 (teetering on 9) skies, I never could see much of anything when doing visual observation. Long exposures are letting me see things I never would have seen otherwise.

Yes EAA has truly been an incredible way of observing that is for sure!

Welcome!  I'm pretty much from your neck of the woods in suburban Philly. That quote sums up exactly how I got into this hobby: I couldn't see much through the eyepiece, but once I put a camera on my scope, the whole universe opened up. What kind of longer FL scopes have you been thinking about?

Hey neighbor! I'm probably going to double (or close to double) my current focal length to start (so, somewhere around 700-900). I've been looking at a lot of triplets. Knowing me, I'll eventually end up with a few refractors as well as reflectors. My wish list on OPT is LONG and expensive. I think my next refractor will be something along the lines of the Explore Scientific FCD100. Trying to keep the load light for the time being so that I don't need to buy another mount just yet.

Nice! My first (and still favorite) scope is in the 800 mm range. It's a super versatile focal length that can frame a lot of targets very well.
