I am also really pleased to hear this. My first telescope was a Meade 2080 LX5 (1989) and is still my primary instrument today. Meade has certainly has its 'ups and downs', and along with Celestron, deserves to be remembered for their innovation and huge contribution to amateur astronomy, in particular their range of affordable SCTs. There is an interesting history HERE.
Well Written Engaging

Yes Meade has a very special place in my heart as well! My 1st Meade was in 1993. That one got me thru a very bad time in my life and another got me thru another bad time!  I’ve had some OTA’s that had phyinominal optics that gave me some of the most memorable views of Saturn and Mars.

I also am glad that they are still here. My thoughts are with competition in the market place for both Meade and Celestron, it will help keep the optical quality hopefully stable and possibly even better in ways.
