I've been exploring various AP control programs and after getting some great feedback about Voyager, I've downloaded the code for a trial.  My first impressions are very positive but I have a question that you guys can probably answer pretty quickly.  I've got everything configured and connecting nicely except my focuser. The focuser is kind of critical but I don't see where to connect it!  I can connect my rotator but there's no focuser tab.  Where is it?

Oh and that "no crashes" feature…well, not so much.  It's already crashed twice just while I was getting it set up!  It took some digging but I found that Voyager doesn't react well when Pinpoint is not activated on the local machine.   I use it all the time in MDL so I thought that it was configured and useable but for some reason, Voyager didn't like it until I downloaded PP again from DC3 and re-registered it.  Instead of issuing a warning, Voyager simply locks up so I had kill it a couple of times with the Task Manager before I found the problem.   Hopefully there aren't too many more of those going forward.

Thanks for whatever help you can provide!

Hi John,
Voyager really is generally crash free.
The focuser is under the autofocus tab in the setup section. In that tab you select what method you want for focus. At the top left is a box for setting the focus method, immediately below it is a box for the focuser choice.

Thanks Mike,

I have an amazing ability to find bugs and crash any piece of code!   As for hooking up the focuser, I was afraid that that might be the answer.   I don’t use V-curve focusing so none of the options under that tab apply.  When I first configure the cameras in my system I also need to be able to manually adjust the focus position so I expect that the software should connect directly to the focuser.   Voyager looks nicely organized and I like what I see but it appears to be written with the assumption that V-curve focusing is the only way to focus, which isn’t true.  I’ll use V-curve focusing on my refractor project but it’s not suitable for what I’m trying to do with the 20”.   It sounds like I’ll have to move on to try SGP next.

Hi Mike,
Ok!  That's certainly worth a try.

Hi John
It might be worth dropping Leo Orazi a line. The best way is to e mail him rather than via forums, he responds quite quickly. He may have a solution.
Regards
Mike

Just to finish up this thread:  Leonardo gave me a very quick and polite response.  He’s not interested.

I’ll consider Voyager for my refractor project but it’s a dead end for the 20”.
