Hello Astrobin!

I am Mike. Despite being a keen astronomer since childhood (now 37) I only really began my astrophotography journey about a year ago. I have thoroughly enjoyed myself so far, despite the reduced sleep and frustration of living in the UK waiting for clear weather windows.

I have made some great progress but am under no illusions that I still have lots to learn in both image acquisition and image processing.

My current goto setup is a star adventurer, moded Canon 200D, the amazing Samyang 135 mm f/2 lens, and some very useful clip-in filters. I am finding this a very capable setup for my current skill level.

Astrobin is a great source of inspiration for me and I enjoy poring over the amazing images users post here.

I look forward to sharing the next part of my astrophotography journey with you.

Regards
Mike

Hello Mike

Welcome to the addiction! I started two years ago with a Skywatcher 100ED refractor and an Orion Sirius mount to see if I liked it. The following year I took the plunge, sold my 100ED and mount, and put in a 12" concreate pier in my backyard and topped it with a CGX. Of course, technical issues arose because I moved to fast for my skills and I really didn't image much last year, so like you I feel like I have one year of experience.

I also bought a Star Adventurer and tried some DSLR imaging with a Nikon D5500 and the same lens you have.

Astrobin is pretty good for seeing what others have done with similar equipment. Indeed quite inspiring.

Sounds like you've got the right approach and I wish you much success. My apologies for your pocket book though smile
