Try your hand at post processing Messier 64 PixInsight data from Planewave CDK17 and LRGB data from QHY600M

There's two hours per LRGB channel. I could not improve upon the one hour of data, per LRGB channel, (except to improve star color) processed and posted to Astrobin located here -

There are 93 subs have FWHM's below 2. All 39 other subs have FWHM's below 2.8.

Any and all criticism is welcome. Any questions about the data or acquisition process will be answered to the best of my ability. I have no formal photography training, optical experience or astronomy training. Please keep comments  at a level that myself and others can understand and benefit from.

If this is a good idea, there is other data I can post. The QHY600M is new to me and this is all the data I have as of April 10th 2021. There is other data from the FLI PL16803 and CDK17 which I can post also. See my other Astrobin to request other data be posted. If this is a poor idea let me know also.

Please ignore any references to "copyrighted" images. It's not my intention to copyright my images and I will reach out to Salvatore to see if the "copyright" reference can be removed.

Please post your results here. Thanks and have fun, clear skies.

Here are the same data files but manually calibrated, with much smaller sizes.https://www.dropbox.com/s/s1s3g3pua528cq0/manuallyCalibrated_red.xisf?dl=0https://www.dropbox.com/s/gcn852h66o6v6nn/manuallyCalibrated_Lum.xisf?dl=0https://www.dropbox.com/s/nbbdxuqr7ga9zvy/manuallyCalibrated_green.xisf?dl=0https://www.dropbox.com/s/q03al3g6la2lkm7/manuallyCalibrated_blue.xisf?dl=0

Hi Seymore,

I've had a try at your image. I notice that the integrated luminance has many hot noises unlike other channels. Do you confirm that everything was ok during the calibration process of the luminance?

Best regards.

Great calibrated LRGB frames, thanks for sharing :-)
I used PI, CCDStack2 & PS CS6 SW programs to make a LRGB image.

Fernando I really appreciate your feedback and I will go over all the Lum subs and the Lum Flats also.

Thank you!!

And clear Skies!!

Very good Planewave data.

Here's a version using PI for initial deconvolution with a dynamic PSF and wavelet noise reduction, HDR, LHE, Gradient removal and color calibration.

This is then followed by PS for masked noise reduction, color stretch, luminance layering, contract enhancement,  masked sharpening and selective star reduction.

Wow I like that!! I am in the middle of a rainy night here, a great time to work on PI post processing techniques, Thank you George!!

The colors are so rich, thank you!!

I worked it out with more saturation to be able to show the wealth of color information that the image contains. With less saturation, the picture is more natural:

A great example of post processing to bring out detail, thank you!!
