Kia Ora - Greetings from New Zealand - Forums

Kia ora, I have been taking images of the nightsky with my camera for about 4 years, slowly moving from wide field to deep space objects. I have had a RC8 with QHY163M on a CEM40 for about 4 months now and am slowly working out how best to use it. Might be a bit out-of-my-depth here, so many amazing images :-) Great inspiration

Thanks for sharing your images Wyane! It looks like your image of the Milky Way was taken from the North Island, which is where I had my first views of the southern skies. My wife and I spent a couple of weeks mountain flying in a little Cessna all over the South Island a couple of months before the Pandemic arrived. My memories of learning to buzz sheep, landing at Milford Sound, and circling Mt. Cook are as good as seeing the Southern Cross for the first time! I absolutely loved New Zealand, the scenery, the people…and of course flat whites! Where are you located and how is the weather for imaging?

Welcome to Astrobin Wayne,

your Images are absolutely great! I had the chance to live in New Zealand (Taupo and Moeraki) for 9 months in 2007/2008. I remember those marvelous, absolutely dark nights skies and the reflections of the milky way in the pacific ocean out at Katiki Point. Not to compare with the light polluted area hier in southern germany.

Looking forward to see more of your images!
