Hello everyone:
My name is Marco, I am Italian (born and raised) but I find myself in the middle of the Blue Grass as a Professor of Physics.

I had a 60 mm achromat when I was 12 .  Astronomy wenta away for a while then 10 years ago my wife bought me a 6" Newtonian.  The rest is history, as they say.

I started imaging planets with a webcam and slowly (very slowly…smile, I built my capabilities.  I am in charge now of the Department of Physics Observatory (I am its chief user and the one who got the grant to build it smile ) and so "pretty Pictures" is not the main scope of it.  But I get to play.  In the last 6 months I discovered Pixinsight, and somehow my images are getting better smile

Thank you for indulging me…
Marco

Howdy Marco!

Those are some nice image of the Crab & Helix Nebula on your page; couldn't help but leave a like for each of them, especially for the Crab Nebula!

Thank you all for the welcome!  I am getting acquainted with Astrobin, and I really like the facts that the images are plate-solved and annotated.  I can do that with Pixinsight, but here is much better looking.

Hello JT:

When did you graduate?  I have been here since '99.  If you can, should come and see the New Science Blg. !

I graduated in 2010. I was there for Computer Science and was only ever in the old science building for my reqs, mostly Geology. I think it's fair to say from a human's perspective, Earth is the best planet  smile I'm only ever in Richmond about once a year these days, but next time I will have to try to see you scope setup (and new science building). It sounds awesome!

Hello from Pennsylvania
I have been fascinated with astronomy since I was a child. Had a cheap department store scope when I was young and as is the case, was turned off from viewing due to the poor optics. Finally decided to get myself a good scope in 2012 and as they say ...
