upon attempting to update starsense controller and camera, my laptop will not communicate with the hand controller with Celestron CFI software. It is not seeing correct port or something. Can someone suggest something?

What are you trying to use?   IF you're trying to use the RS232 to USB, unless you're lucky, I never found good luck with that.   Find a direct USB adapter that bypasses the need for the serial RS232 connection, unless you have a legacy motherboard around!    Once I flipped over to the USB to "whatever the style" phone jack it is, I was able to update the firmware for my hand controller and StarSense with little issue.    (I ended up with that type of adapter when upgraded the wife's SyncScan hand controller for her Orion Atlas mount.)

Hope that helps.

I actually have the USB to Mini usb cable. I have done some researching on this issue and from what I read, this is very common issue. I have given up on the StarSence and i'm returning for refund. I can't believe as long as this has been out Celestron hasn't fixed this issue with their Firmware.
I have wasted three nights, and half a morning trying to fix it. What's bad is it actually worked prior to updating, but the Hand Controller didn't recognize my Focuser. If not for that I wouldn't even have touched it.
