Hello all ,

I am having an asi 533 mc pro , asi 290mc and a uniguide 50 mm /200 mm from william optics as my guiding system.
My mount is a celestron avx.

I am looking for a suitable telescope that i can use ideally for both quick eaa captures and for some astrophotography.

A friend is selling a used celestron sct 6 inch one that i am considering to buy with the potential of future upgrading it with a hyperstar.

Looking forward for your tips and advice on this.

Hi Kleanthis,

a SCT 6 is clearly a wonderful instrument, and of course you can use it both for EAA and for AP and i am sure your AVX can handle it well. I do not know how your experience-level in AP is, or how much money you want to spend, but a SCT with a FL of 1,5 m is not an instrument for a beginner. If you are a beginner i would suggest a 150/750 newtonian or an APO (for example a Photoline from TS). You will experience less problems with these shorter systems. If you are not a beginner just ignore my advice :-)

Hi Michael,

Thanks a lot for your response. I have been through the hurdle of astrophotography the last couple of years so i would consider my self as an intermediate user. I think i will be buying the sct6 and enjoy its advantages and disadvantages smile .

I might even consider a small triplet 60-70 mm for some wide field if needed smile

Thanks and clear skies
