Ce samedi-là, très belle observation du soleil en H-alpha. On pouvait y voir sur la tranche les restes d’une énorme éruption qui avait eu lieu le jour d’avant, que je n’ai pas eu la chance d’observer malheureusement. J’utilise souvent l’outil GONG pour planifier mon observation du soleil et des fois simplement par curiosité, pour voir ce qu’il se passe sur notre étoile. Je ne connaissais pas helioviewer.org qui permet de visualiser le soleil à travers les yeux de plein d’instruments, au sol ou dans l’espace ! Ces deux outils m’ont permis de revenir à cette date pour voir exactement ce qui s’était passé et de créer une petite animation ! J’espère que j’aurai l’occasion d’assister à une telle éruption en direct !

J’ai aussi testé l’astuce d’inversion the l’image, assez courant dans le traitement des images solaires. Et cela marche assez bien pour cette image !

On that Saturday, I made a nice observation of the Sun in H-alpha. At the edge of our star, this nice active region was the residue of an enormous flare that occurred the day before, which I, unfortunately, have not been lucky to observe. I often use GONG tool to plan my observation or simply to check out what’s happening on our star out of curiosity. I didn’t about helioviewer.org which allows to view the Sun through the eyes of many ground-based or spatial instruments! Those two tools have allowed me to rewind to this date and see exactly what happened and create a little animation! I hope, one day, to be lucky-enough to observe such an event live!

This image was also an opportunity to try the inversion trick on solar image processing which I think works great for this case :)
