UGC 1810 & UGC 1813
Two interacting galaxies approximately 300 million ly from Earth in the constellation Andromeda, not far North from Triangulum. It’s included in Halton Arp’s magnificent “Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies” , written in 1966. UGC 1810 is about five times more massive than UGC 1813 and its disc has been tidally warped by UGC 1813’s gravitational pull. and now resembles a rose.
The light blue color at the top represent clusters of bright new stars, while the edge-on UGC 1813 show signs of star formation at its nucleus. This may be caused by the interaction between the two. A interaction that is made clearly visible by the massive tidal streams between the two - despite them being separated by tens of thousands of light-years. What’s more interesting is that UGC1813 appears to have passed through UGC 1810. The distorted and ring-like appearance of the large outer arm of UGC1810 is the main evidence for this theory.

Hubble Space Telescope’s 21st anniversary image:
Hubble’s 21st anniversary image featured this particular galaxy. Of course an 8” ground telescope in my backyard is no match for Hubble, but I still think it makes a pretty good effort!

Nova AT2025aezd (earliest image?)
Newly discovered supernova AT2025aezd, discovered 25.11.25, which is a full five days after I imaged this area myself. After reviewing all of my data I made a timelapse/animation showing the development of this nova from each session I imaged it. This narrowed down the window of emergence to be after 13.11.25 and no later than 18.11.25. In between this timeframe I have no images. The timelapse can be seen here.

The nova is now bright despite only a few frames captured. Thus it has to have occured closely before or at this time.

It is increasingly bright at this point compared to the night before where there was a similar amount of data.

The surroundings
There are numerous small/distant galaxies surrounding Arp 273. It never seizes to amaze me how far we can actually look. Considering the fact that the angular size of Arp 273 is only about 2.6 arcminutes wide makes it even more astonishing! Some of these are little known or may not even have a designated catalogue number at all.
