Looking for some ideas on small objects to observe??  Check out the Astronomical League's Arp Peculiar Galaxy Observing Program.  i completed the northern objects program a couple years ago.  i continue to work on them and even doing as many of the southern objects as i can reach.

p.s.  I should not have used the word “observe”.  You won’t see these but they are fun to image.   You can also be satisfied with black and white images.   No need to spend time collecting color data for most of them.

a very useful guide to accompany your exploration is The Arp Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies by Jeff Kanipe and Dennis Webb.some of the Arps are your very familiar objects (M82, M101, M51) but those are probably in your collections already.  it is the obscure ones that make it fun as well as having a goal to complete.these are the ones i have done so far.  enjoy
