Hello,
I was originally referred to astrobin by my friend who is an amazing astro photographer. I had never heard of astrobin before. I am very active on social media but I feel like people are there to show off an not learn from each other. When I looked into this new sharing platform I liked it, but I am highly intimidated because most photographers here are deep sky and astro photographers. I mostly do night photography or "nightscapes", so I hope I can find a solid number of them here to follow.

I am in Arizona and I do a lot of traveling around my state and Utah, most recently New Mexico in search of dark skies. I am lucky I am just 1.5 hours away from a level 2 sky and 3 hours from the Grand Canyon.

So, just saying hello. I am slowly going to be uploading my images and I hope you like them.

Hello from Minnesota!

As mentioned, there should be plenty of info and people who do similar styles as you!  I started the hobby a couple years ago by jumping into deep sky, but am starting to look up some tips and tricks to do some wider nightscape style photography more!

@Chase Newtson  I appreciate it. I have considered taking that leap, however, I’m not sure if I’m ready. I appreciate your comment.

Welcome! It’s certainly not as common, but there are a lot of people who do similar type of photography on here. Recently, on August 16 there was one as image of the day even!

Welcome to Astrobin!

I also just this weekend drove to NM in search of cloud free dark skies (this was a tough monsoon weekend), but our skies here are extraordinary most of the year, as you know.  Your nightscapes are certainly welcome here, and can be a great way to enjoy the beauty of the night sky!

If you're in central AZ (Phx and surrounding) you're within 2 hours of a few great spots - I go to Pearce AZ and Alamo Lake State Park (Wenden AZ) often which are within 3 hr. drive of Phoenix and are a couple of my favorites.

You'll find a really supportive community here and folks tend to assist rather than tear down.  It's a great place to post your work and ask questions of helpful experts.

Dark Skies!  And Welcome!

Welcome aboard Edith! You have some beautiful work and I'll look forward to seeing more from you in the future. Hopefully the monsoons will end soon so that the Arizona contingent can resume imaging.

Welcome Edith!  It's nice to have another fellow Arizonan here.  I'm your neighbor in Scottsdale, and do the same thing, traveling around our state and up into UT and also NM in search of dark skies.  We're truly lucky to live here, within a day's drive of pristine skies!  Anyway, I do mostly deep sky imaging but would like to do more nightscape stuff as well.  Hopefully I can learn from you.  I'm looking forward to seeing your images!
Clear skies,
Brandon
