EL panel owners, is this normal?

Hello,
I've just bought an EL flat panel and, at every brightness, it has a visible "pixel like" pattern.
The vendor told me it's normal, but I'd like to verify this claim with you, since I'm worried this could ruin flats.

Fine grained differences in luminosity do not affect the effectiviness of the flat panel as they will be waaaay out focus during use and thus not affecting the results.

The focus of the scope should be so far out that it shouldn’t matter, I’ve got a FlatMaster 250 that I believe is EL I’ve never really looked that close but it’s not perfectly even. I’d try it and see, the flats will either work or they won’t. One thing I do is set the exposure for at least 2-3 seconds, it seems to smooth everything out.
