Is the frontplate of the Omegon Vtec571-M meant for adjusting tilt?

Hi all!

Wonder if someone else owns the Vtec571-M and have any thoughts on what the unused M2 threaded holes are for?

To me they look similar to the the tilt adjumstment holes on the ASI2600. The funny thing is that all pictures of this particular camera does not show it with this frontplate, not even in the manual for the camera. Nor is the plate mentioned in the manual.

Hello Steen,

That surely looks like a tilt plate. My Omegon 571C does not have this plate and looks exactly like the store images suggest. Maybe this is a new version or some sort of option they added?

So glad you agree 👍 The strange thing is that there were no screws in the case.

Weather has been terrible since I got it, so I have shot nothing but calibration frames.

Hi Steen,

I own the same camera and asked myself the same question a few days ago.

Do you already have an answer to your question through own tests?

I have contacted the support and asked about the purpose, because since I know there is no tilt plate (since they mention it in the shop).

My OSC version does not look like that. However Touptek (Risingcam)  (camera that Omegon rebrands like veTEC 571 ) has exactly the same plate like yours. It does not look like
a tilt plate as there are no double screw holes (you need counter screw hole) .
The threaded holes are most likely to fix the filterwheel to the camera . (some filterwheels do have holes that my correspond to the holes on your camera. )

Those are for filter wheel connection.

Older version of RisingCam IMX571 and its variants such as Omegon and Orion had only M42 thread.

Many people compalined about it becasue it was hard to get 55mm back focus with filter wheel and OAG.

So, they came up with new version with QHY and ZWO comaptible bolt connection.

Inner four female threads can be matched with ZWO filter wheel, while outer six threads can be matched with QHY filter wheel.

Hi Toby

Yes it works just fine. I bought some small allan screws as counter screws. As I recall they are Ø 2.5 mm, 3 mm long.

Thanks for yor reply.

I use the outer ones for tilt now with some 2.5 mm counter scres, and it works just perfect.

I also chose this solution as there were no room for a tilt adapter as the plate takes up to much space.
