I saw the new solar imaging camera from ZWO, the ASI432, and the specs seemed to be just right as a guide camera for long focal length scopes and larger reflectors.
Tested it side-by-side against the ASI174 with very good results.

The large pixels and sensor make a substantial difference when it comes to finding guide stars.

Below is the same region of the sky with guide stars in PHD2.

This is useful, thanks! I am considering the 432 for a (still on the wish list) C8EHD set-up. As I also dip my toes into solar imaging, perhaps this is a pretty good "do-it-all" cam? What are your thougts?

*Glad you found this useful.

The numbers and the ZWO page says its a great performer for solar imaging I didn't test it for that so I personally couldn't say for sure.

The 174 is one of the best guide cameras but I was surprised how many more stars this camera saw with the combination of all its advances.

I'd say if you are looking at solar imaging this should be a good choice. I have swapped out my 174 and use this camera as my guide camera now.

You have to make sure this m42 type camera body fits in your imaging train though.

Also, for those using guidescopes or short focal length refractors, I wouldn't recommend this camera as the pixels are too large.
