Imaging near bright stars

I've taken a couple of images of the Horsehead Nebula, and I get a bright blue spike intruding on the image from nearby Alnitak (see this image for example: The Horsehead Nebula - B33). I see plenty of other similarly framed images that don't show this problem. What is the "secret"?

Not really any secret per se other than darkening the inside of the scope with flocking or baffles, etc. It is an internal reflection. Unless you are willing to do some surgery on the scope to do this, there isn't really anything you can do. I've seen worse reflections!

I had similar issue with my C8. I moved the scope between subs much more more than normal dithering does and PI rejection could remove most of it, the rest I removed with some other cosmetic tools.

Fine tuning a new acquisition, the TS Hypergraph 6 version of the Sharpstar 15028 HNT. All is good, I like it a lot, but have quite an annoying problem with starburst diffraction. The image below shows two main problems (1) The starburst itself (coul...
