PCC Changed after the Spectophotometric CC???

Hello guys,

Hey question, I just updated my PI and noticed the new Spectrophotometric Color Calibration process was added along with a couple of updates. I went to do the PCC process and noticed that the "Image parameters" where you put in your image scale info, RA, Dec info is gone. Has anyone else noticed this? What am I missing here?

I went to PI's forum and I can't get into my account, so I sent them a message to get it unlocked so you guys are my backup. I've also noticed that some of my noise reduction doesn't seem to be working the way they used to! I'm really concerned about his update now!

Any insight is appreciated!

All you need to do is use image solver first, then use PCC. PCC used the same process, all tied into the one procedure, but there was probably some overhead of maintain two separate procedures doing essentially the same thing, so they took it out of PCC.

I may not be correct with my reasoning, but that is what it seems like to me.

Thanks Jason,
your correct. I need to run the image solver then it writes the info to the fits header and then I can run PCC.

Besides running the image solver you also have to down-load the Gaia DP3(-SP) data files.  So far I've only tried SCC once and I liked the result.  The fact that it uses satellite measured color data and now takes into account the bandpass for the filters and the spectral responsivity of the sensor means that SCC should give really good results.  I think that Juan and his team have pulled off an impressive computational feat that may be a major breakthrough in color calibration.  In my view, PixInsight is truly a world class piece of software.

I'm also having trouble with PCC, as after an update Image Solver no longer works. I get this message when I open image solver: *** Error: *** Error: C:/Program Files/PixInsight/src/scripts/AdP/WCSmetadata.jsh, line 39: include file not found: Projections.js

Does anyone know how to solve this? I'm assuming I will need Image solver for the new SCC as well as PCC

If you are using WBPP script to stack everything, an Image Solve is run as part of it and it embeds the location information from a platesolve. Sometimes it can't auto detect everything and the dialog prompt pops up. I think everytime it has done that, manually putting in the M#, NGC, etc, clcking 'get', and then clicking ok lets the flow continue without issue and is able to solve.

SCC with the DR3/SP(small data set) has worked great and actually is a lot faster than PCC. I have not tried the large data set for SCC to see if it would be slower or any other obvious differences. If you download the 4 .xpsd files, be sure to register them locally with: Process, Star Catalogs, Gaia, DR3/SP dropdown, little wrench in bottom right, select the .xpsd files, ok, click the circle Apply Global button bottom left, ignore the message after that.

One thing I did notice yesterday is that if you Drizzle manually (instead of letting WBPP do it for you), the output drizzle file did not include a platesolve and I had to run ImageSolver manually and output to a new file for SCC to work.
