PHD2 Predictive PEC ... anyone else using it?

I'm trying PHD2's Predictive PEC on my RA axis tonight and it seems to be working well smile  RA and DEC RMS errors are roughly equal and I'm achieving about 0.5 arc secs RMS overall.  Anyone else having good results with it?

I did kick guiding off about 1 hour before astronomical dark so that it had learned its stuff before I started image capture.

I've used it on my EQ6R-Pro with some success.     It does generate a small improvement for .1 RMS or so….

I used it for a while on a prior mount, it is not bad.  Be aware it takes two worm turns to start, and also resets after slews, and after guiding is stopped for a period of time (I think you can adjust the later). Until it has enough data it is just hysterisis.

A real PE curve loaded in the mount is better if you can do that (e.g. with Pempro).

I would second the idea of using Pempro if you can. It is not very hard to use and the free version allows up to 30 minutes of data gathering. Longer is better but you will be able to actually see your curve, upload it and validate that it reduces PE. predictive PEC didnt do much for me. On the other hand, neither did full PE correction; depends on the quality of your mount. Befor going that route, I’d suggest following the protocol on getting a good calibration - basically calibrating at the intersection of the meridian and the equator - then running guiding assistant, if you have not done it already.

just trying to improve my guiding with an AVX

Calling all AZ-GTi + ASIair users... What guide settings do you use?
Anyone here using the SkyWatchwer AZ-GTi mount (in EQ mode) along with an ASIair pro? I've been running mine for a few months, usually carrying anything from a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 lens to a RedCat 51. It's been a great lightweight mount and I...

Another question about guiding...
I just want to put this guiding question out there and see what everyone thinks. Back in the day when guiding was done manually (oh boy) it was normal to have a large and very precise worm and wheel on the RA and not much on DEC, maybe a tangent arm ...
