WBPP stacking script for PixInsight

Hi,

Today I have received an e-mail from PixInsight telling they have updated the script WeightedBatchPreProcessing or WBPP to the 2.4.5 version. 

It’s asesome how the have improved this stacking script since its 1.0 ancient version but I’m not sure that I know how to use it properly…

Does anyone know if there’s any kind of manual to learn to use it?.  I have looked for it in PixInsight but I haven’t  found that sort of documentation.

Adam Block has a nice series on WBPP on YouTube. It's for 2.0 and 2.1, but should be sufficient to get started.

My guidance would be that there is a hint in the name … i.e. it is a pre-processor first and foremost, but can then do full image weighting and integration once you have created calibrated frames.

I'm currently using it as follows:

1) To create a bunch of calibrated frames with the relevant lights, darks, flats and dark flats
2) Use blink/subframeselector to weed out the bad calibrated frames and export selected frames to another directory
3) I then use WBPP to re-weight (measure), register and integrate the frames (this time with no bias, darks or flats as the images are already calibrated)

It is a fantastic script and one which made my transition to Pixinsight so easy.  The more i use it, the more I learn about it and the better the images get.

Is anyone else finding it slow to do its processing? I am finding it's taking about 1.5 hrs to complete. That includes 20 flats, dark flats, darks and about 100 lights. My processor was quick in its day but is about 6 years old now. I have 16GB of RAM.

Hi everybody,

I have an Issue that I don't know if its any kind of missconfiguration or anytihing with WBPP 2.4.5

I'm trying to stack with WBPP old captures with my DSLR and in previous versions of WBPP it doesn't matter the rotation of the image files from the camera but with WBPP 2.4.5 it seems to be a problem.
I mean that I have lights that are 3464x5202 px and darks and bias were rotated from the DSLR at the moment of taken it (because I used to do that with the camera out of the telescope and the camera cover on and maybe the oscilloscope of the camera fave the order of picture rotation). Flats were taken with telescope pointing the zenit. So, due to that issue I'm not able to callibrate lights with darks flats and bias.


Is there anything to do? Maybe any parameter bad checked?

May be this is due to your RAW settings. Open the Format Explorer (Ctrl-Alt-R), then select RAW on the left and Edit Preferences on the lower right corner.
Ensure that No image flip is checked to ignore any rotation from the meta data. You can also just select the Pure Raw defaults with the lower left button which I think is the recommended way.

Thank You a lot @Stephan Schäfer  you're right!

Maybe in the new version of PixInsight I lost all the settings of the Raw's configuration. With Pure Raw the warning message desapeared.
I'm going to try to stack old data now.
