Crescent Nubula Wide Field

Howdy,

This wide field image centered on the Crescent nebula was captured with a Roki 135. 2 hours of 2 minute subs, Bortle 4, and a ZWO dual band filter. No flats have been created yet. Processed using APP's Ha algorithm. 

There's a lot of good nebulosity here, but my question is about the whole lower left quarter of the image - the static for lack of a better term. Can someone chime in here to tell me what's going on, and in what direction I should be going to improve things.

Lack of flats is being felt, so take and apply flats to your imaging processing runs. Flats are the alpha and omega of good pre-processing. You ignore them at your peril…

I'm not sure what you mean by "static" in the lower left corner.  Obviously there are some oblong stars, but only when you zoom right in and probably the limit of your optics.  I did, however, have a play by removing the stars and reducing them somewhat and came up with:

Hi Andy, by static I'm looking at the gray stuff (professional astronomer term) primarily in the lower left quadrant of the photo.

Hi Andrea - not ignoring them - this was taken on a road trip. Hard to do with all the other travel things happening.

Hi Mike. Nothing prevents you from taking them now, or does it? Not familar with APP but there are ways to improve the flatness of the image in PI.
